Volunteering at Turning Point
Turning Point recruits volunteers year-round. Our volunteers must go through one brief training session before starting with their duties. Turning Point's volunteers use their talents in a variety of ways, whether it be in our administrative office or working directly with clients.
We have opportunities for volunteering at the administrative office, shelter, and in the community. Tasks include crisis call support, office and file duties, assistance with in-shelter child care, community outreach, advocacy, event assistance, and much more.
We typically have 2 types of volunteers who assist us. View the tabs below to find out which one would work best for you.
While we want everyone to get in as many hours and as much experience as possible, our needs vary based off time of year and many other factors. If you are looking for a volunteer opportunity where you want a specific amount of hours per week, this may not be the opportunity for you.
Recurring Volunteers
Recurring volunteers are instrumental in Turning Points daily functions, and your responsibilities may vary. These types of volunteers can work shelter side, administrative side, or work out in the community. See below for the requirements.

On Call Volunteers
Our on call volunteers primarily serve one very important purpose which is transporting clients to and from the shelter. Many clients may not have access to reliable transportation and we don’t always have the staff to fulfill this need. In being an on call volunteer, you would receive calls requesting you to transport clients and children to doctors appointments, school, work, job interviews, etc. See below for the requirements.
